Sooooo….I low key just got through 2 months worth of blog posts while I procrastinate from my third midterm of the week. My apologies for being so behind but I loved all of your posts and I miss you all dearly.
Quite frankly there’s too much I’ve missed to update you all on so I’m just gonna hit the highlights.
I went to a corn maze and a pumpkin patch and on a tractor hay ride. I had my first dunkin’ donuts experience. I went to a music/arts festival in “downtown” West LaLa (LaLa is Lafayette, btw). At the arts festival there were a bunch of booths and little activities set up; there was this wall where people wrote out cards to their neighbors and what it meant to be “home” and posted them there (I included a pic in the slideshow). I just thought it was really heartwarming.
In the corn maze my friends and I met a native Hoosier named Khauqtie (pronounced “Cody”) who we jokingly destined as my husband. His name is not actually spelled “Khauqtie” for the record…we just made it into a joke that it was…
I also found a plant shop in the middle of nowhere…I bought 10 pumpkins there. Don’t let a group of plant geneticists go out into rural areas by themselves. I swear we all almost bought trees.
This meme was made the morning I woke up and the weather had–overnight–changed from 88º and 90% humidity to 50º with a bone-chilling wind. I’ve adjusted since…but it’s been a rough transition.
It’s disheartening to see people wearing tshirts and shorts when you’re wearing 6+ layers.
I also had a bit of a health scare this last week and ended up in the student health clinic. That in itself is another adventure but it was funny because as I’m sitting in the health clinic–coughing my lungs out– this jolly man in a striped shirt walks up to me and says:
“Hi! May we offer you a mask?”
In a tone that isn’t suggesting, but demanding I take this mask for my face.
SO I end up sitting there for like an hour with this mask on, barely able to breathe as it is…and I can just feel it redirecting all the infected air into my eyes and making everything worse.
Needless to say, it was a very rough morning. But hey, I got some steroids and an inhaler out of it so…win-win sitch?
I REALLY should go study for my midterm and get ready for my (YAY) interview for a research position tomorrow, so I’m gonna end on this:
Tonight a bunch of little children trick-or-treated in our dorm and my roommate and I decked out the room and dressed up and THE KIDS WERE SO CUTE. Also, we got free candy so…yet again, another win-win sitch.
Update: My weather app told me it would be 75º today, and it for sure lied to me.
Gotta love LaLa.
