I’m really loving the punny names for posts so I’m going to keep it going (creds for this one go to my friend Cat). I’m still loving my school and for the most part am pretty happy here.
After orientation finished everyone pretty much immediately found their squad. It literally happened overnight. I, however, did not get the memo that we were supposed to find friends asap, I found myself squadless. I’ve made friends from a bunch of different groups so maybe I’ll get my pick of squad or something. The person I spend most of my time with is my friend Cat who actually spend the last 9 years living in Tokyo and she’s super cool. I’m also still getting along great with my roommate Anna but our very different class schedules mean we don’t see each other too often.
Classes have been pretty good so far and aren’t too much work yet. I’m taking a math class titled mathematical thought and all the questions are word problems but they’re as easy as 18×5 and the teacher let us out 40 mins early last class (classes are only 50 mins long) so its pretty great. Spanish is going to be a challenge but I think I can suffer through it and am pretty motivated to pass so I never have to take it again. I’m loving both theology and philosophy but the kids in my class all hate it which makes things a little rough. I’m also taking European history which is cool and and education 101 class that I’m really excited for.
Campus Ministry puts on an event every Friday and this week was Metro Madness, which was a scavenger hunt through DC that included things like proposing to strangers on the metro and singing christmas carols in front of Ford Theater. My friend Cat and I got super into and had so much fun despite the rest of our group’s lack of enthusiasm. It was a ton of fun and I’ll definitely be doing those activities pretty much every Friday.
Both Anna and Cat had to go home for the weekend so I’ve been pretty bored but I don’t have school so I plan on going in to DC which should be fun.
I really miss all of you and have loved getting to face time with some of you and can’t wait to (hopefully) hear from the rest of you very soon!
